A two-mallet vibraphone solo that requires the performer to strike the nodal points on the bars (the "dead" or less resonate area) to create a rhythmic backdrop over which the melody is performed. The performer must take care to strike the bars in the correct area in order to present a clear statement of the melody. Premiered by Dr. Matt Geiger at East Tennessee State University in 2019.

As one of the most famous Christian hymns around the world, this vibraphone arrangement will be effective regardless of whether the setting is sacred or secular. The sweetness of the original melody is decorated by contemporary harmonies and idiomatic vibraphone techniques. Mallet dampening and a variety of arpeggio permutations make this a great study piece for developing the dexterity necessary for vibraphone proficiency.
